Harvest Evangelism;

Was founded in 1987 by Pastor Rick Hagans and his wife Kim

Starting out together in ministry when they married in 1980, in Opelika, Alabama it was then called, "East Alabama Challenge"  and primarily consisted of evangelism and a Christian Coffeehouse (aka Community Center) called, "The Challenge". Modeled after Teen Challenge (the ministry to addicts begun by David Wilkerson), East Alabama Challenge was a local outreach to those who needed someplace safe to hear the gospel and those who just wanted to be around other Christians, hear Christian music, fellowship, be discipled in The Word and trained in evangelism and sharing their faith in word, as well as deed.

After moving to East Texas  (1985) to work for two years with David Wilkerson and his World Challenge Ministries there, Rick felt the call to bring his wife (Kim) and newborn son (RC) back home to Alabama and re-establish themselves in ministry there.

In 1987, Harvest Evangelism was founded and they started again just  like they had left; evangelism, missions and Coffehouse ministry. Before too long, after Rick bringing too many men home for the Hagans' to continue to house, His Place the coffeehouse, became His Place the men's home. Men coming in who found their lives consumed by life controling problems, found a safe place to find the love of God. They were men who while lost, hurt and enslaved, found hope, live, love and freedom in the person of Jesus Christ.

Very soon they realized that there were also so many ladies who were also in desperate need of this 24/7 care and discipleship and Hosanna Home was born. After that came Hope's Inn, Harvest Thrift Super Center and Hope Clinic.

Though the local ministries of His Place, Hosanna Home, Hope's Inn, Hope Clinic and Harvest Thrift Super Center are the most visible, the ministry of evangelism, missions, outreach and hands on ministry goes on regularily, not only through the pulpit and teaching ministries of Pastor Rick and Kim Hagans, but also through their ministry staff members; Glen Ward, Mr and Mrs Sledge, TR Amason, and others.

This ministry is dedicated to preaching Jesus and seeing Him set free lives enslaved to sin and the passions of our own flesh.

We will be adding a newsletter each month and will continually archive past issues. In addition to our monthly newsletter, we have recently added a special message "On The Road With Pastor Rick" each month. These messages are edited from messages he has preached in various places around the world. It has been amazing to us how many people have responded to these messages.
